Definition

The work tax area is a code of up to four characters that defines the group of tax authorities for a given work location.

The name of the work tax area is the same as the lowest level tax authority in the area. For example, area 'CA01' consists of California and San Francisco, CA and CA01 resp. Since San Francisco is the lowest level authority in the area, it is named CA01.

Note

Work tax areas do not include the Federal tax authority; only Residence tax areas include the Federal tax authority.
