The length of the characteristic value was restricted to 18 places for the new characteristic value store, because a maximum of 18-place values are possible for an update in a Business Information Warehouse (BW).

Example
Supplementary Documentation - WRF_ATWRT 0001
Procedure
If this field is ready for input, you can specify a permitted characteristic value directly.
The length of the characteristic value depends on how many places you defined for the characteristic values in characteristic maintenance.
If you defined a format-free entry in characteristic maintenance, the places defined for the format information will be ignored. In this case, you can specify a maximum of 30 places for a characteristic value.
If several values are allowed for the characteristic, you can also enter several values directly. You separate the individual values with semicolons in this case.
If you defined the characteristic such that all the values are displayed in the valuation screen, you can select a value from the displayed values. The system then notes the selected value(s).
