Definition
According to section 2 paragraph 1 of the Remuneration Regulation (ArEV), remuneration is to be increased by a maximum of 2.5% (less if the contribution rate is under 2.5%) for the proportion of remuneration liable to supplementary pension insurance contributions that is based on the employer contribution amounts taxed at a flat rate according to section 40b EStG (German Income Tax Act), provided that the pension regulation of the supplementary pension institution (SPI) stipulates a total pension at least until 31.12.2000 (section 2, paragraph 1, no. 3, sentence 2 ArEV).
This regulation applies to compulsory insurance for almost all SPIs, even if they have switched to a funded scheme after the supplementary pension reform (according to the social insurance agency).
Excluded are only SPIs that intend to provide total pension until the end of 2000. For these, 0% is to be entered.
With regard to voluntary insurance, this allocation does not apply to the proportion of contributions taxed at a flat rate according to section 40b EStG.
Always enter the maximum percentage possible. If the contribution rate is lower, the percentage is automatically lowered when the additional SI amount is calculated.
