Definition
In SAP NetWeaver BW, the term InfoProvider encompasses various metaobjects of the data basis, which in a query definition can be considered as uniform data providers, hence, enabling uniform reporting on the data. This includes the following objects:
- DataStore Object
- InfoCube
- InfoObject (when master data and/or texts exist)
- VirtualProvider
- InfoSet
- Aggregation Level
- MultiProvider
Notes:
- The term InfoProvider does not specify criteria such as how data is supplied or the level of detail or "proximity" to the source system in the data flow diagram. It simply means that the object contains data that can be evaluated in a query.
- InfoProvider is not a new BW object; it is a collective term for a group of existing BW objects.
