Definition
Determines the following properties for the hierarchy attribute to which it is assigned:
- Technical properties data type and length.
- Texts that are displayed for the input fields on the user interface (field labels)
- Field help for the input fields

Use
The allowed values for the value help and the validation of values are derived from the domain that is assigned to the data element, either from the domain fixed values or from the assigned check table or text table. If no check table or fixed values are stored for the domain, there is no value help available and no validation is carried out.
Dependencies
If there are attributes/hierarchy attributes with the same name and different entity types, they must all have the same data element assigned to them.
Before you can create a data model, you must create the data elements. The data elements must be transported before the data model is transported, otherwise the data model cannot be activated without errors after it has been imported to the target system.
