Documentation
Definition
Indicates whether an entity type, an attribute, or a referencing relationship is included in the Master Data Governance process.
Use
You can edit governed fields in change requests, unless you make the fields read-only for particular change request steps. You can never edit ungoverned fields. We recommend that you remove ungoverned fields from the user interface unless they contain information the user needs. The MDG framework does not store any value of an ungoverned field. For example, it is not possible to use an ungoverned field as a target for a Business Rules Framework plus (BRFplus) derivation.
Dependencies
In Customizing, you cannot access or remove the following fields from the governance scope:
- Key fields
- Required fields
You can also not remove entity types with a storage and use type of 1 from the governance scope. You can, however, remove their attributes and referencing relationships from the governance scope.
When you attempt to change the Governed indicator, the system sometimes proposes required changes to the Governed indicators for related fields. You can then approve the required changes or cancel.
Changing the governance scope affects single processing, file download, file upload, mass change, and data import. For more information, see the help document in Customizing for Master Data Governance under Process Modeling -> Define Governance Scope.
