Definition

Use

You use this setting to control the message output during the processing of a change request (pushbutton Check):

  • Standard: Standard message output
  • Issue Error Messages as Warnings: During the processing of a change request, error messages are issued as warnings; during the final approval of the change request however, error messages are issued as error messages again.

    This setting can be useful if various user groups use different UI configurations that each permit only some of the attributes of an entity type to be processed. For example, it is thus possible that a user is not able to enter values for all attributes that are indicated as mandatory fields in the data model. In this case, you must choose the Issue Error Messages as Warnings setting.

    This setting affects all messages, regardless of where they are defined (this includes the Customizing activities Define Validation and Derivation Rules or BAdI: Define Validations/Derivations, BAdI method CHECK_ENTITY); however, there are exceptions - for example, the following checks delivered by SAP:

    • Authorization checks
    • Hierarchy checks
