Definition

An edition is a version of the master data of specific entity types (for example, accounts) that is valid for a certain period of time. An edition consists of change requests and has a status.

Use

An edition always reflects a set of valid master data for a specific time period. An edition can include master data of different entity types. The edition type determines which entity types are allowed.

Editions are processed centrally and can be distributed to local systems afterwards. Processing is structured by means of change requests. Change requests are used to approve and execute the actual changes to master data.
