Definition
Determines how the dimension characteristic will be mapped to the MDP view in order to control the way in which the info provider is accessed.
The dimension characteristic can be mapped in four different ways:
- Characteristic is from selection critiera: When the info provider is read, the dimension characteristic will be restricted according to the values found in the selection criteria of the MDP view.
- Characteristic is from column Info Object Attribute: No restrictions are made for those dimension characteristics when the info provider is read. Then, the results table from the reading of the info objects and the results table from the reading of the info provider will be matched and combined according to those dimension characteristics. You can draw a parallel with the fields that are used to join two SQL tables together.
For example, If you have an MDP view that lists articles from the info object
0MATERIAL
and you want to link this MDP view to an info provider that has0MATERIAL
as a dimension characteristic, you will use this dimension characteristic mapping. - Characteristic is fixed value: When the info provider is read, the dimension characteristic will be restricted according to the fixed value defined in the setting of the MDP view (see column Dimension fixed value). For example, you always want to access the data for the
0VERSION
equal to 000. - Characteristic is fixed in column: When a characteristic dimension is used to restrict a key figure column, you should use this mapping. It might happen that you want to use the same key figure multiple times in the same results table.
For example, you have the key figure
0CPBAINSABU that
represents the sales unit per assortment. When0VERSION
is equal toF01
, the value of the key figure0CPBAINSABU
will represent the forecast value for the sales unit per assortment. And when0VERSION
is equal toRP1
the value of the key figure0CPBAINSABU
will represent the planning value for the sales unit per assortment. By restricting your dimension characteristics in the colums, you can have two columns in the MDP view which will be based on the same figure0CPBAINSABU
; the first column will be for the forecast value and the second column will be for the plan value.
