Definition
Mode of Interpretation of Data in Reporting.
Use
Reporting reads data records from a transactional data target, reinterprets the data according to certain Customizing settings, and displays the results.
You can specify a hierarchy node selection for the organizational units:
- If you choose No Reporting Logic, the consolidation group entered in the section Organizational Units is interpreted as a hierarchy node in the consolidation unit hierarchy. All consolidation units underneath this node are selected.
Furthermore, if the consolidation unit is explicitly restricted, the system uses the intersection with the node selection.
- If you choose one of the three reporting modes, the consolidation group entered in the section Organizational Units is interpreted as a hierarchy node in the consolidation group hierarchy as well. All consolidation groups underneath this node are selected.
If the consolidation group is also restricted in the section Further Settings, likewise, the system uses the intersection with the node selection.
The system interprets an omission of the node selection when working with reporting logic as a selection of all existing consolidation groups. When applicable, data records found in a transactional data target are output more than once - that is, once for each consolidation group the record belongs to.
There are three modes of interpretation to choose from: Standard, Purchase Method, and Restatement.
- Standard mode takes into consideration posting levels, accounting techniques, the sturcture of consolidation group (or unit) hierarchy, as well as the dates of first consolidation and divestiture accounting.
- Purchase Method mode treats each consolidation unit as if it is consolidated using the purchase method - regardless of its actual accounting technique.
- Restatement mode does not take into consideration the dates of first consolidation and divestiture accounting.
