Example
The source system has characteristic Item with technical length Character 10, whereas the current Consolidation system uses a field Group Item with technical length Character 8.
The field Item needs to be converted during data collection from an external data stream.
If the source system has a naming convention that can be used to shorten the Item field (for example, if the two leading characters reflect the ID of the chart of accounts), you can directly move the field to the Group Item field.
In this case, for the target field Group Item you use the operator Move with an offset and length.
