Definition

Book value adjustment considered as a depreciation that was posted after the interunit delivery by the inventory-managing consolidation unit.

Use

During elimination of IU profit and loss in inventory, the valuation allowance adjusts the calculation of the interunit profit/loss to be eliminated.

Use valuation allowances disallowing losses if you want to skip eliminations of IU profit and loss in the following case: An interunit profit is initially calculated without this valuation allowance. However, this profit is less than the valuation allowance and, therefore, an interunit loss is incurred. But this loss is not eliminated.

If the valuation allowance reflects depreciation, enter a positive amount. For a writeup, enter a negative amount.
