Use

If you select this indicator for a goodwill entry, the offsetting entry for the capitalization of the original value is posted to an explicit item, which means that the offsetting entry is not posted implicitly by the elimination of the investment and the equity and their respective minority interests.

Which item is used for posting an explicit offsetting entry depends on whether the goodwill is carried according to the historical percentage of ownership:

  • Goodwill carried according to historical ownership: The explicit offsetting entry is associated with a divestiture gain from the original value of goodwill. Therefore, the "Gain/Loss from Divestiture" item is used.
  • Goodwill carried according to the current percentage of ownership: This deals with the capitalization of a manual goodwill entry. The offsetting entry is posted, without an effect on net income, to the offsetting item specified in the customizing settings for goodwill posting items (either globally or in the consolidation of investments method). You can choose different offsetting items for positive and negative goodwill, and for the various treatments of goodwill (amortization, direct elimination, and periodic reduction).

Dependencies

Explicit offsetting entries are posted only for manual goodwill entries.
