Definition
Use
Select this indicator if you want the system to generate the object.
Depending on whether the object already exists when it is saved or generated, the selected indicator has a slightly different meaning:
If the object does not yet exist, the system generates a new object. And unless you explicitly specified a name for the object, the system also assigns the name of the object.
If the object already exists, the system checks whether the current definition is equivalent to its target condition. If this is not the case, a regeneration adjusts the object accordingly.
Thus, it is usually helpful to retain the option after the first generation, to allow the system to adjust generated objects when necessary.
If you do not select the option, the system will not perform a generation under any circumstances, even if the object was originally generated by the system. Conversely, if the indicator is selected, whenever necessary the system always runs a regeneration, even if the object was originally created manually and not by the system.

Example
Say, while maintaining the data basis, you specified an InfoCube for totals records and you want the system to generate the data stream for documents. You also want the system to update the ODS object for documents whenever future changes are made to the InfoCube for totals records. To do this, you would select the indicator Generate for the data stream for documents; then, once the ODS object is generated while saving the data basis, you would leave the setting of the indicator unchanged.
