Definition
The selection rule shows which employee date the system selects for the calculation of the employment period.
Use
You use the selection rule to select periods, weighted periods, and date-based durations. The following definitions are used:
- Selection category
- Upper and lower limit of individual periods
- Move start and end date
One of the four following categories must be defined for each selection rule:
- Start date category
The system generates an interval from the start date of the period with the highest priority and the defined end date.
- Status category
The system generates periods from the Actions infotype (0000) if the Status and the Status indicator match records in this infotype. The interval consists of the validity period for the individual infotype records.
- Infotype category
The system generates periods from the individual records in the specified infotype or subtype. For more information, see infotype existence. You can also define a selection condition for an infotype.
- Selection exit category
The system generates periods from a selection exit.

Use
The valuation rule for employee data is a module which is used to calculate a time specification, such as the length of service in a company.
A valuation rule is based on a specific infotype. However, the calculation of a time specification is usually based on the valuation of several infotypes. Several valuation rules are therefore combined to a valuation model. The valuation model together with a rounding rule is the calculation rule for a time specification.
A time specification can, for example, be the length of service in a company.

Procedure
Specify the valuation rules which the valuation model comprises.
Choose suitable valuation rules.
Examples
Dependencies
You must first define the required valuation rules.
