Definition
The values of a position are structured in a range of unique and independentposition components.
Depending on the assigned position management procedure, different valuation steps (security valuation, currency valuation and/or index valuation) are run as part of a key date valuation. In order to determine the currency gain/loss, the system accesses the exchange rate type defined in the position management procedure.
The position component, Foreign Currency Valuation contains the total of all foreign exchange write-ups/downs carried out up to now.
This key figure is displayed in valuation currency. You define the valuation currency for each (parallel) valuation area. This is the currency in which the positions in a valuation area are managed, and can therefore be regarded as the "local currency" of the valuation area.
