Definition

Specifies the maximum amount by which an incoming payment can fall below the scheduled payment amount for a loan, without the borrower defaulting on the loan.

Example

A borrower is required to pay the amount of 100 USD for a loan. A tolerance amount of 5 USD has been agreed in the contract. Depending on the actual payment amount, the system processes the incoming payment as follows:

• Borrower pays 96 USD

  The shortfall is within the agreed tolerance amount and the system processes the payment as usual. The borrower does not default on the payments for the loan.

• Borrower pays 94 USD

  The payment is outside of the agreed tolerance limit and the system rejects it. The borrower defaults on the payments for the loan.
