Definition

This field identifies a government agency that is authorized to levy certain taxes. Depending on the jurisdiction of the agency, the level of the tax authority may be:

  • Federal
  • State            (e.g. Washington)
  • County            (e.g. King)
  • City            (e.g. Seattle)
  • School district

Use

Definition of tax authority override.

Procedure

When an entry is made in this field, the amount of the tax form field will not contain the amount of the default tax authority of the appropriate tax form, but the amount of the override tax authority.

Example

Some state tax form W2 report beside the state income taxes, the federal income taxes. Therefor you define a tax form field which will be set up with a override tax authority 'FED'.

Use

Tax authority for which the cumulation of tax data is defined.

Procedure

If this field is left blank, the definition of the tax form group is valid for all tax authorities within the given tax level.

If the tax authority is specified, only that authority is handled differently for this tax form group.
