Definition

The Dutch social security system comprises a number of employed persons insurance schemes (werknemersverzekeringen):

• Ziektewet [ZW] (Sickness Benefits Act)
• Werkloosheidswet [WW] (Unemployment Act)
• Wet op de Arbeidsonge- (Occup. Disability Insurance Act)
  schiktheidsverzekering [WAO]
• Ziekenfondswet [ZFW] (Compulsory Health Insurance Act)

This field contains a unique code determined by law. Every act is denoted by means of a single character code: normal SI schemes by means of a number, additional SI schemes by means of a letter and pensions by means of code 9.

In addition to the normal SI schemes ZW, WW, WAO and ZFW SAP supplies 5 extra SI schemes for general use with the standard delivery as well as a code for pensions. The meaning of the standard SAP codes is fixed:

• 1 - 5 for the normal SI schemes (ZW, WW, WAO and ZFW)
• A - E for the additional SI schemes (VUT (early-retirement scheme), WAO-gat (disability benefits gap), etc.).
