Definition
The distribution sub-code may be used to supplement the primary distribution code. It further defines the reason of a distribution from a retirement plan. The IRS allows only certain combination of distribution codes. For example, if you entered Code 1 as the primary distribution code, you may enter Code 8, D or P as the distribution sub-code.
