The following variable types are supported:
- Characteristic value variables:
If at first you do not want specify a characteristic value any further, you can define a variable for it here.

If a text is to be displayed, whose content is not known until the report is executed, you can define a variable for it.
- Formula variables:
If a constant is not to be specified within a formula until the report is executed, you can define a variable for it.
- Node variables:
If a node within a hierarchy is not to be specified until the report execution, you can define a variable for it.
- Hierarchy variables:
If a hierarchy is not to be specified until the report execution, you can define a variable for it.
