Definition
You use the time reference to specify how a translation date is determined from the planning level's characteristic value. When you maintain parameter groups, you can select time references for the characteristics that are in the planning level.
Example: The characteristic 'Fiscal year/Period' exists in the planning level. Possible time references are 'Period end' and 'Period start'. If you select 'Period end' as the time reference, and if the characteristic has the value '003.2000' in the current data record, then the system uses the exchange rate from the 31.3.2000 for currency translation.
Note: You only need this setting if you have entered a characteristic (in the 'Characteristic Target Currency') from which the target currency is derived.
