Definition

The fact table of an InfoCube (built according to the star schema) contains the key fields of all dimensions that belong to the InfoCube in the key part and the key figures of the InfoCube in the data part.

Therefore, the fact table represents the significant database table that contains the transaction data of the Business Information Warehouse (InfoCube). The assignment of the "facts" (= key figures) to the reference objects (= chars) takes place using the dimension tables, that are contained in the data part of the characteristics of the InfoCube.
