Definition
A fixed value is assigned to a characteristic by the assignment of a fixed value. The characteristic is available on the database side (for example, for validations), but is no longer report relevant (no aggregation / drilldown of this characteristic).
A constant assignment makes most sense with compounded characteristics.
- Example:
The characteristic storage location is compounded with characteristic plant. If only one plant is ever managed in the application then a constant can be assigned to a plant. The validation against the storage location master table is then successful with this value for the plant. Only the storage location is now offered as a characteristic in the report. - Special case:
If the constant SPACE (type CHAR) or 00..0 (type NUMC) is assigned to the characteristic then the # character should be entered first.
