Definition
The term MultiProvider is an extension of the MutliCube concept. Multiple InfoProviders can participate in a MultiProvider. Their data is brought together using the UNION operation.
The following BW object types can participate in a MultiProvider:
- InfoCubes,
- ODS Object,
- InfoObject,
- InfoSets
Note:
- A MultiProvider does not contain any data itself and is therefore not a data target. Instead, it has the task of bringing together the data from the participating InfoProviders and thus placing them in a common context.
- The operation to bring together the data is not a JOIN. It is a UNION.
- From the point of view of a query, a MultiProvider is an individual data provider (InfoProvider). The corresponding InfoProviders and the union operations that are performed are not visible in the query.
- Of course, MultiCubes are also MultiProviders. Upward compatibility of the MultiCube concept is provided..
