Definition

A dimension of an analytical index spans an axis in the fact data scope. The dimension can have multiple dimension attributes.

Use

A characteristic is created from the dimension in the TransientProvider.

The dimension has a name and the following additional properties:

Text: The semantics of the dimension is described here. This text is used as the text of the derived characteristic.

InfoObject : Assigning an InfoObject allows Analysis Process Designer to make suggestions for dimension assignment when creating analysis processes. When an analytical index is created on the basis of the transformation result of an analysis process, this InfoObject is automatically assigned to the dimension of the analytical index.

Key component: If this indicator is set, the dimension is added to the fact index as a key component. When loading a new record to the fact index, it overwrites any existing records that have exactly the same key parts. If the analytical index does not contain any key components, the corresponding fact index is created as an "insert only" index. This has a positive effect on the load performance.

Reference InfoObject Metadata: If this flag is set, the properties of the referenced InfoObject are used in the TransientProvider.

Authorization-relevant : If a dimension is authorization-relevant, a check is performed (when executing a query on the TransientProvider and when navigating in a query) to see whether the user is authorized for all dimension data entered in the result set. The data for the TransientProvider is only displayed if this is the case.

Derived InfoObject: This is the name of the characteristic used to display the dimension in the TransientProvider.
