Definition
An aggregate saves the data of an InfoCube redundantly in an aggregated form.
Use
Data is described by a quantity of characteristics in the InfoCube. Aggregating means that selected characteristics are left out. Data records from the InfoCube, that are no longer distinguishable are summarized in a data record.
Aggregates are needed for reasons of performance and enable quicker access to the data.
