Definition
With a data flow copy, you can define how each individual original object is copied. For example, you can; use the unchanged original object in the copy; use a different target object instead of the original object; create a target object using the original as a template or by overwriting.
Use
The following section explains the functions and prerequisites of every copy type.
- Use original
The original object is not copied.
If further objects, that depend on the original object, are copied in the same copy process, the target objects are also dependent on the same original object.
This copy type is nearly always possible, unless the original object depends on a different object that has already been mapped to a different target object, in the previous wizard step. - Use different object
The original object is not copied.
If further objects, that depend on the original object, are copied in the same copy process, the target objects are also dependent on the selected target object.
The prerequisites for this copy type are that the dependent objects can be copied and the selected target object is compatible with the original object. - Create with template
The target object is created using the original as a template.
If further objects, that depend on the original object, are copied in the same copy process, the target objects are also dependent on the new target object.
This copy type is possible for almost all object types. The prerequisite for this copy type is that the target object does not exist. - Create without template
The target object is created without a template.
If further objects, that depend on the original object, are copied in the same copy process, the target objects are also dependent on the new target object.
This copy type can only be selected for transformations that do not exist. The suggested transformation rules as the same as the rules suggested for creating the transformation in the Data Warehousing Workbench. Select this copy type if more rules are suggested than can be applied from the original transformation. - Replicate (create)
The target object is created by replicating from the source system.
If further objects, that depend on the original object, are copied in the same copy process, the target objects are also dependent on the new target object.
This copy type can only be selected for DataSources that have not been replicated.
Before this can be done, a replicating source system (SAP system or BW system) must have been selected as the target object for the original source system. - Overwrite with template
The target object is overwritten using the original as a template.
If further objects, that depend on the original object, are copied in the same copy process, the target objects are also dependent on the overwritten target object.
This copy type is possible for almost all object types that can be created with a template. The prerequisite is that the target object exists. - Overwrite without template
The target object is overwritten without a template.
If further objects, that depend on the original object, are copied in the same copy process, the target objects are also dependent on the overwritten target object.
This copy type can only be selected for transformations that already exist. The suggested transformation rules as the same as the rules suggested for creating the transformation in the Data Warehousing Workbench. Note that all the rules of the target transformation are discarded. - Replicate (overwrite)
The target object is overwritten by replicating from the source system.
If further objects, that depend on the original object, are copied in the same copy process, the target objects are also dependent on the overwritten target object.
This copy type can only be selected for DataSources that have already been replicated. Before this can be done, a replicating source system (SAP system or BW system) must have been selected as the target object for the original source system. - Merge (overwrite)
The target object is changed using the original object as a template. Any changes to the target object that could lead to data loss are not performed. For example, if the original contains fields that are not in the target, these fields are added. However, if the target contains fields that are not in the original (anymore), these fields are not deleted from the target.
If further objects, that depend on the original object, are copied in the same copy process, the target objects are also dependent on the changed target object.
This copy type can only be selected for InfoProviders that already exist. The prerequisite for this copy type is that the selected target object is compatible with the original object. - Create or overwrite
This copy type combines two copy types for creating multiple copies of an object in the same process. With a multiple copy, it may be the case that some of the target objects already exist and others do not. If the target object with the original object as a template already exists, it is overwritten. If it does not exist, the system creates it. You can find more information in the descriptions of the combined copy types. - Replicate (create or overwrite)
This copy type combines two copy types for creating multiple copies of an object in the same process. The target object is created or overwritten by replicating from the source system # depending on whether the target object has already been replicated or not. You can find more information in the descriptions of the combined copy types.
This copy type can only be selected for DataSources. - Create or merge

The original object is not copied.
If further objects, that depend on the original object, are copied in the same copy process, these objects are also not copied.
This copy type is only possible for data flow copies and not for processes. This is because processes cannot be omitted from a process chain. - Original not relevant
The original object is not copied.
This copy type cannot be selected but is specified by the system, if the original object is implicitly copied or if a different target object is needed instead of a dependent original object. For example, parts of a HybridProvider are implicitly copied with the HybridProvider. If a different process chain is used instead of a subchain, the processes contained in the subchain are not relevant. Therefore no target processes need to be assigned.
