Definition
To execute a DTP, the system uses the processing type Parallel Extraction and Processing or Parallel Extraction and Processing Except Delta Init., provided that the following conditions are met:
- The source of the DTP supports parallel extraction.
- Error handling is deactivated.
- The list for creating semantic groups in DTPs and transformations is empty.
- The Parallel Extraction field is selected.
This processing type results in increased use of database resources due to conflicting work processes during extraction. This has a negative impact on the total time needed to process requests. With serial extraction, there are no conflicting work processes in extraction and database resources are not used intensively. Therefore, it may be the case that the processing type Serial Extraction, Immediate Parallel Processing is the most beneficial option for request processing in general.
The Parallel Extraction field allows you to influence the processing type of the data transfer process and switch between the Parallel Extraction and Processing and Serial Extraction, Immediate Parallel Processing processing types.
Use
If the system is currently using the processing type Parallel Extraction and Processing, you can select this and change the processing type to Serial Extraction, Immediate Parallel Processing.
If the system is currently using the processing type Serial Extraction, Immediate Parallel Processing, you can select the Parallel Extraction field and change the processing type to Parallel Extraction and Processing (provided that error handling is deactivated and the list of grouping fields is empty).
Dependencies
The Parallel Extraction field is selected by default, if the DTP source supports parallel extraction:
- If you edit a DTP that already existed before the field was added, this field is automatically selected.
- When you create a DTP, the field is selected by default.
