Definition

This parameter is the minimum confidence that a rule must show in order for it to be included in the results of the affinity analysis. The confidence of a rule "Item A -> Item B" is defined as follows:

Confidence (A -> B) = Support (A -> B) / Support (A)

The confidence represents the conditional probability that item B is contained in a transaction assuming that item A is also contained in it.

Use

This parameter controls the number of rules that are to be delivered by way of the affinity analysis. These rules are to support you in your business decisions.

Dependencies

The parameters minimum confidence and Top X Rules are evaluated by the system independently of each other. Only those rules are delivered that exceed the minimum confidence and that lie within the top X quantity of the selected level of quality.

The specified maximum number of rules in the configuration cannot be exceeded in any analysis run (for each combination of the rule keys). It serves, therefore, globally as a runtime-limiting and memory-consumption-limiting setting.
