Functions in the Object Trees of the Data Warehousing Workbench: Modeling
The following functions are offered in the toolbar above most of the object trees:
- Refresh Tree
To refresh the selected subtree, choose @42@ -> Refresh tree structure.
To refresh the entire tree, choose @42@ -> Refresh Entire Tree.
- Expand/Collapse Subtree
To expand or collapse a subtree, select the subtree and choose @68@ Expand Subtree or @69@ Collapse Subtree. This function is supported on the various levels of the object trees. The system displays the expanded subtree with a maximum of 100 objects.
- Search for Objects in Tree
To search for an object in a tree, choose @13@ Search. Enter a character string and select search criteria. If the system finds an object whose technical name and/or description contains the character string, the system expands the tree at this position and highlights the objects. If there are several hits, you can use the @4E@ Find Next button to display the objects that have been found one by one.
- Transfer Objects to Favorites List
To transfer an object from a tree to a user-specific favorites list, select the object and choose @EV@ Add Object to Favorites. Alternatively, in the navigation pane in the Data Warehousing Workbench, you can drag an object to the favorites. In the Favorites list, the relevant context menu for the objects is available.
- Call Monitor for a BW Object
To display the monitor for load and data transfer processes for a given object, select the object and choose @6P@ Call Monitor for BW Object. With the Control and Shift keys you can also select multiple objects.
- Hide Empty Folders
To hide application components or InfoAreas that have no subordinate
objects, choose @K2@ Hide Empty Folders.
- Display Tree Information
To display the tree information, choose @3D@ Legend and Documentation.
- Display Data Flow
To enable upward display of the data flow for objects in the tree, choose @MB@ Display Data Flow Upwards. If there is a dataflow upwards for an object, it will be displayed underneath the @MB@ icon.
- Set Sorting Behavior of Tree
To change the sorting behavior (for example to sort by object type), choose @3E@ Sort By.
- Filter Tree
You can filter the tree according to object status of the BW objects, a certain pattern in technical name or description (ABC* for example) and according to object versions being different (the modified version is not the same as the active version). Choose @4G@ Filter.
- Hide Tree
To exclude an object tree from the display, choose @3X@ Hide Tree. The functional areas in the Data Warehousing Workbench remain in the display in the left-hand area of the screen. If you have opened an application in the right-hand area of the screen, you can display the tree again by choosing @JG@ Show/Hide Tree Display from the Data Warehousing Workbench toolbar.
Explanations of the Toolbar of the Data Warehousing Workbench: Modeling and Administration
The toolbar provides the following functions:
- @9S@, @9T@
When you call applications, the navigation area and possibly the object tree continue to be displayed in the left screen area of the Data Warehousing Workbench. You can start new applications from the tree without leaving the current application.
To activate the previously called applications again with forwards/backward navigation, choose @9S@ Previous Object or @9T@Next Object.
- @K6@
To hide or show the navigation area, which displays the functional areas of the Data Warehousing Workbench, and the current object tree in the modeling, choose @K6@ Show/Hide Navigator.
- @JG@
To hide or show the object tree, choose @JG@ Tree Display Full Screen/Half Screeen.
In the Modeling functional area, the toolbar offers jumps to process data and objects as well as jumps to additional BW tools that are relevant for data warehousing:

If you called an application in the Modeling functional area, The icons for the application are displayed instead of these jumps.
Additional icons are displayed in the Administration functional area, depending on the application called.
Explanation of the Toolbar for the Modeling Functional Area
The toolbar offers the following functions:
- @3X@
To hide the navigation area, choose @3X@.
You can show the navigation area again by choosing @K6@ Show/Hide Navigator in the toolbar in the Data Warehousing Workbench. - @K8@
The following options allow you to hide the navigation area and the tree display (after navigating in an application):
- Hide Navigator after Navigation
- Hide Tree after Navigation
- Hide for Large Applications
- Large applications are the transformation and maintenance of the semantically partitioned object.
If you are in the application, you can show the tree again by choosing @JG@ Tree Display Full Screen/Half Screen in the toolbar in the Data Warehousing Workbench.
You can show the tree and the navigation area again by choosing @K6@ Show/Hide Navigator in the toolbar in the Data Warehousing Workbench.
