Use
On a data flow arrow between two nodes, you can specify a field assignment between the structure of the source node and the structure of the target node.
Activities
There are different ways of assigning fields:
- You use input help (F4) in the right-hand column to assign the source node fields to the target node fields listed in the left-hand column.
- The system then performs the field assignment automatically. For this, choose the Automatic Assignment pushbutton. Automatic assignments are made on the basis of identical InfoObjects or data elements in the source and target structure.
Before automatic assignment occurs, the system first deletes the existing assignment.
- You can use the pushbutton in the central column Method to assign a constant or the initial value to the relevant target field. Moreover, you can use this pushbutton to assign a source field, as with the first option.
Runtime Behavior
During runtime, the data between source and target fields are converted, initialized, or filled with a specified constant value, depending on the data type.
