Use
You can use this transformation to enter selection conditions to restrict the amount of data to be processed. The columns in the table are not changed.
Activities
- On the Field Selection tab page, select the fields for which you want to specify conditions.
- On the Filter Conditions tab page, enter the conditions for these fields. Choose Complex Selections to specify multiple conditions for a field.
You can use variables in your selection conditions, for example, to always filter data for the current month. To do this, choose the variables pushbutton beside the Selection From or Selection To column. In the dialog box that is displayed, you can select the required variable and can specify, for example, an offset for time characteristics.
You cannot create complex selections with variables; this means, for each field, you can enter just one selection condition with variables.
Example
Master data is only to be read for specific business partners. To do this, in addition to the Data Source 'Characteristic' node, you add a filter node to the analysis process. If you enter a filter condition for the Business Partner field, such as the interval 1000-2000, this condition is checked during execution to reduce the amount of data to be read.
You want to use the filter to select the data for the previous three months. Variable CURRMON, which returns the current month, exists for time characteristic 0CALMONTH. For the corresponding field in the analysis process, enter the variable CURRMON and the offset -3 for Selection From. For Selection To, enter CURRMON and the offset -1.
