Use
This node enables you to use the data of a BEx query for an analysis process.
The node makes all fields of the query available for further processing by subsequent nodes.
Activities
- Choose a query from which the data is to be read.
- If the query has variables for manual entry, select a variant. You can create and maintain query variants in the query monitor. It is not possible to directly input variable values in the analysis process.
- If you expect the query result to return a large volume of data, in "Advanced Settings", select a suitable characteristic to partition the data (see below).
Query Properties
The query data is read using the ODBO interface for BW. Therefore, the query must be released for OLE DB for OLAP. Furthermore, not all BEx query options can be supported; for example, the use of variables or conditions is not supported. For more information, see SAP Note 751577 and related SAP Notes in the FAQ.
Partitioning
If you expect a large query result, we recommend that you partition according to a characteristic. In the advanced settings, select a partitioning characteristic and a package size. The system creates packages with instances of the partitioning characteristic with the specified package size. The query is executed for each package. This means the characteristic values from each package are used as filters. If possible, choose a characteristic with a grouping property and aim for a small number of packages. When you make your selection, find a trade-off between the main memory consumption for each package and the overhead costs that result from the number of packages. For more information, see SAP Note 751577.
Example: The query contains sales figures as well as customer and product numbers. You expect several million data records in the query result. You select product group and package size 10 as partitioning characteristics. The query is then executed for 10 product groups.
