Documentation
When a query is executed, the data in near-line storage is also read and displayed.
Storing historical data in near-line storage reduces the data volume of InfoProviders, while the data is still available for BEx queries. You do not have to load the data back into the BW system. The database partitions and the near-line storage partitions for an InfoProvider consistently reflect the total dataset.
