Definition
The object link ID is expected to uniquely identify the linked object within the referenced linked system. Configuration also allows the storage of a dictionary structure to assist in the decomposition of the ID into multiple component fields.
With such a unique reference and related configuration points for the linked application, you can enable the Portfolio Management system to make functional calls into the linked system to perform common activities such as confirm the object existence, retrieve linked information, or search for appropriate references to store within the object link itself.
