Definition

The derivation type represents a category of object for which financial objects can be created using characteristic derivation.

The derivation type determines the structure in which the system expects the attributes of the original object to be delivered (source structure).

For each derivation type (source structure) and characteristic area (target structure) combination, you can maintain a derivation strategy.

Derivation types for the object categories recognized by the SAP system are delivered by SAP. You can additionally create your own derivation types. The names of user-defined derivation types must begin with 'Y' or 'Z'.
