Definition

In this field you enter the amount which constitutes a year's worth of includable compensation for the employee (as defined by the 403(b) Maximum Exclusion Allowance calculation) before the first payroll of the employee.
This amount is used for extrapolation purposes when calculating the includible compensation.

• Consider a full-time employee hired on Aug. 1, 1980 whose first payroll begins on May 1, 2000. Enter here the known compensation from May 1st, 1999 to April 30th, 2000.
• Consider a part-time employee hired on Aug. 1, 1980 whose first payroll begins on May 1, 2000. Given the employee's parttime-working percentage, calculate the period corresponding to a full year of service. e.g. if the employee works 75% of the time, then a full year of service constitutes 16 months. Enter here the known compensation from Jan. 1, 1999 to April 30, 2000.
