Definition

Use

Specify the number of disabled dependants for whom you want to claim the disabled dependent allowance, based on the following criteria:

  • Enter the total number of disabled dependants for whom you want to claim full disabled dependant allowance.
  • Enter the total number of disabled dependents for whom you want to claim half disabled dependant allowance. (This is applicable only if your spouse is also applying for a half claim of disabled dependent allowance.) In this case, you must also select the Claim only Half Dis. Dep. allowance checkbox.

For example, consider that you want to claim half allowance for a dependant. If you specify the number of dependants as one and select the Claim only Half Dis. Dep. allowance checkbox, the system processes only half disabled dependant allowance for the number of dependants specified.

  • Enter the effective number of disabled dependents for whom you want to claim disabled dependant allowance. This is in case you are claiming half allowance for few dependants and full allowance for others.

For instance, consider that you want to claim full allowance for one dependant and half allowance for another. In this case, you must specify the number of dependants as three and select the Claim only Half Dis. Dep. allowance checkbox. Here, the system calculates the disabled dependent allowance effectively as full allowance for one dependant and half allowance for the other dependant.

Dependencies

Example

Case 1) Consider that employee A wants to claim half allowance for one disabled child and full allowance for another disabled dependent. In this case, since there are two dependents in total, the employee must select the Claim only Half Dis. Dep. allowance checkbox and then specify in this field, the number of disabled dependants as three. In this case, the system calculates the number of disabled dependents as follows:-

No. of Disabled Dependants = (30,000 + 60,000)/30,000. Here 30,000 is the half allowance for a dependant and 60,000 is the full allowance for a dependant.

Case 2) Consider that employee A wants to claim half allowance for 2 disabled children and full allowance for one other disabled dependent. In this case, since there are two dependents in total, the employee must select the Claim only Half Dis. Dep. allowance checkbox and then specify in this field, the number of disabled dependants as four. In this case, the system calculates the number of disabled dependents as follows:-

No. of Disabled Dependants = (30,000 x 2 + 60,000)/30,000. Here 30,000 is the half allowance for one dependant and 60,000 is the full allowance for a dependant.
