Definition

Indicates the amount the employee donates to charity organizations.

Use

This amount is allowed as a tax allowance. However, only charity contributions upto a certain percentage of the assessable income after all other deductions can be claimed as tax allowance. This percentage is fixed by the government.

Example

Consider that an employee contributes to charity organizations. Upto 10% of assessable income after all other deductions, or the charity amount, whichever is less, can be claimed as tax allowance. If the charity contribution exceeds this value, the difference will not be considered as a tax allowance.
