Definition

The system changes the initial period to reflect your specifications as follows:

  • From the start date into the past
  • From the end date into the future

Use

If you want to extend the initial period a day at a time, enter the number of days you want the period to be increased.

If you want to extend the initial period by a week or month, carry out the following steps:

If you enter 1 week, the system changes the initial period to include the first day of the week or weekend. If the first day of the initial period happens to be on the first day of a week or a weekend, the system increases the initial period to include an additional week in the past or the future. In other words, the initial period is increased in both directions up to and including one week.
You get the same results when entering 1 month.

If you want to increase the initial period to include the week before the current week, enter 2 weeks. If the current date is on the first day of the week, then the period is increased two weeks, otherwise it is increased up to and including two weeks.
You get the same results when entering 2 months.

You determine the first day of the week in the Week beginning field.

By combining all options in the Initial period, you can modify the initial period to suit your requirements.

Example

  1. You chose the current week as the initial period. However, you also want to display the last two days before and after the current week when you access the Time Manager's Workplace. To do so, enter 2 days in both the Relative position for start date and Relative position for end date.
  2. You always want to access the Time Manager's Workplace for the current week. If the start of the week or a weekend appears, however, you want to display the previous or following week as well. To do so, enter the current day as the initial period and enter 1 week in both the Relative position for start date as well as the Relative position for end date.
