Definition
Date from which the items in are valid in Engineering Change Management.
Use
Each catalog item has a "Valid-from" date. When you create a new catalog, this date is determined from the assortment module assignment if you do not explicitly enter a "Valid-from" date. The "Valid-from" date can be changed manually in catalog maintenance.
If you want a history of the items, the date determined by Engineering Change Management must be different to the "Valid-from" date in the catalog. As it is not likely that you will want to change the date manually for each item, you can enter a date here that is to be used as the "Valid-from" date for the items. If you do not enter a date, the system uses the current date. So that the date is changed, you must have selected the indicator "Use valid-from date".
There are therefore three ways of defining the "Valid-from" date:
- The Valid-from date for the assortment is used (appropriate if you do not need a history)
- The Valid-from date in Engineering Change Management is used
- The current date is used as the Valid-from date for Engineering Change Management
