Definition

The fields in the file layout are the lowest level in the file layout object hierarchy. Values are stored in the fields.

• Length
• The length must be defined for each field.
• Fields with a constant length have the length as specified by the user.
• Fields with a reference length have the same length as a . referenced field.
• Content
• You must specify how the content of a field is determined.
• Constant values must be entered in quotation marks (for example, "ABC").
• Fields with dynamic values take their values from a reference field. The reference field can refer to an internal field, a field string, or an infotype.
• If you choose the user exit option, the return value of the user-defined form routine determines the content of the field.
