Definition
If set, it indicates that the leave days that have been taken, but not yet paid, must be considered using the "as earned" principle. If not set, the system uses the "as paid" principle.
Note: In the "as paid" principle the company pays the vacation allowance using as basis the employee's current remuneration (when payment is made). In the "as earning" principle the basis used for determining the vacation allowance is the employee's remuneration at the time when they went on vacation.
Example
- "As earned" principle:
The company pays the vacation allowance before the longest leave period. Employee M's salary is 220.000,00 PTE. She plans to take 10 vacation days in March and 12 in September. The system must, therefore, pay the vacation allowance in August, that is, before the longest leave period. However, the employee received a salary increase in April and her salary is now 300.000 PTE.
Since the company uses the "as earned" principle, the vacation allowance payment regarding March is calculated using 220.000 PTE as reference remuneration, and the payment regarding September, 300.000 PTE, that is,
10/22 * 220.000 PTE + 12/22 * 300.000 PTE = 280.000 PTE
In total, the employee receives 280.000 PTE.
- "As paid" principle
The company pays the vacation allowance before the longest leave period. Employee M's salary is 220.000,00 PTE. She plans to take 10 vacation days in March and 12 in September. The system must, therefore, pay the vacation allowance in August, that is, before the longest leave period. However, the employee received a salary increase in April and her salary is now 300.000 PTE.
Since the company uses the "as paid" principle, the vacation allowance regarding both vacation periods, March and September, is calculated using 330.000 PTE as reference remuneration. Therefore, the vacation allowance amount for 22 vacation days is
22/22 * 300.000 PTE = 300.000 PTE
In total, the employee receives 300.000 PTE.
