Definition

Enter the monetary amount that the employee contributes to the Individual Retirement Account (IRA) institution.

Note:

The amount must be not less than a legally required percentage of the total amount for the specified separation payment.

Check the percentage in Customizing for Payroll Korea under Separation Payment -> Define IRA Related Payroll Constants.

Use

In a separation payroll run, the employee's separation payment can come from various channels and for different purposes; each type of separation payment is subject to a defined tax-refund rate. During the payroll run for separation tax deferring (payroll reason 12), the system allocates the IRA contribution to the following separation payments sequentially:

  1. Legal separation payment from the current company
  2. Honorable separation payment from the current company
  3. Legal separation payment from the previous company
  4. Honorable separation payment from the previous company

For example, an employee received the following payments in a separation payroll:

  • Legal separation from the current company: KRW 20,000
  • Honorable separation payment from the current company: KRW 30,000
  • Legal separation from the previous company: KRW 50,000

The IRA contribution amount is KRW 80,000, which comprises as follows:

  1. KRW 20,000 from the legal separation from the current company
  2. KRW 30,000 from the honorable separation payment from the current company
  3. Another KRW 30,000 from the legal separation from the previous company
