Documentation
Definition
Definition of a time unit.
Use
You use the number and unit combination to define a time interval. When you enter a time interval, the system can determine a relative date from a reference date. This entry combination therefore allows you to define relative dates whose start and end dates refer to absolute dates.
When you use days or weeks as the unit, the system determines the time interval from the number you specify.
If you use the units percentage of reference duration (round up) and percentage of reference duration (round down), the system calculates the time interval as a percentage of the reference duration. The reference duration is the duration between the start and end dates of a given time limit entry. The result is rounded to full days when you select days as the unit.
Example
A relative date can be 20 days before or 10 days after a reference date, as the following table shows.
Time limit Reference date Number Unit Relative date
A001 31.07.2005 -20 Days 11.07.2005
A002 01.02.2005 10 Days 11.02.2005
A relative date can be before the start of an academic session by 10 percent of this session's duration, as the following table shows.
Time limit Reference date Number Unit Relative date
0100 01.09.2005 -10 Percent 22.08.2005
If an academic session has a duration of 100 days, the relative date would be 10 days before the reference date. (In this case, rounding plays no role as this time limit only has full days.)

Use
You can define a time interval by entering a number and unit combination. The system determines the due date based on the start date, time limit, and time interval.
Example
Time limit Start date Number Unit Due date
0001 01.02.2005 10 Days 11.02.2005
0002 31.07.2005 -20 Days 11.07.2005
