Definition
Defines how the system determines the principal organizational unit for a student if no organizational unit is assigned to this student.
Use
The system must derive the principal organizational unit in cases where an organizational unit is not assigned directly to the student. The principal organizational unit is usually derived from the principal program; this is the program that was assigned the highest priority (=1) when the relationship between the student (object ST) and studies (object CS) was created. The Program Data (1730) infotype record of the principal program defines the module group variant assigned to the program.
The principal organizational unit is derived in two different ways depending on what is specified in the field Derivation rule for principal organizational unit:
- From the program: If the derivation rule for this module group variant is program, the systems derives the organizational unit for the student from the relationship between the program (object SC) and organizational unit (object O). If the program is linked to several organizational units, the system uses the organizational unit with the highest priority.
- From module groups: If the derivation rule for this module group variant is module groups, the system determines the relevant module group category (e.g. major or minor). This is defined in the field Priority of the IMG activity Set Up Module Group Variant/Category Combinations. If more than one module group of this module group category is assigned to the student or studies, the system determines which module group was assigned the highest priority when the module groups were linked with studies, and derives the organizational unit for the student from this module group.
You must specify whether the system should determine the principal organizational unit of the student from the program or from module groups.
