Definition
Tax codes need to be identified to make certain allowances, reimbursements or perks, tax exempt as per the Income tax laws. Entries starting with 'S' are reserved for a SAP Name range and is used by the Payroll driver to evaluate correct taxation for various payments.
Example
SHRA is an allowance with an associated taxcode 'SHRA'. This indicates that the allowance is treated as House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per the instructions used by the payroll driver. It takes the details corresponding to HRA, rent paid, basic, and city of residence (metro or not) into account before calculating the exact tax liability on this amount.
Likewise SCLA, SCOA, SLTA and so on, indicate that any allowance associated with these are treated with respect to the per laws regarding Company Leased Accomodation (CLA), Comany Owned Accomodation (COA) and Leave Travel Allowance (LTA) respectively.
