Definition
A group of components in the employee's monthly pay is collectively called Basis.
Provident fund (PF) Basis = basic salary + dearness allowance + retaining allowances for a month as per the pay structure.
If the employee's PF basis is equivalent to eligible pay or more, the employee has the option of contributing either his or her eligible or complete PF basis towards Provident fund.
