Definition

Select this indicator to decide whether the number of ESI working days should be calculated as calendar days or working days. This number of ESI working days is used to calculate the number of days for which wages are paid to an employee, which is printed on the two forms.

  • If you select the Calendar Days option, the system considers the calendar days (as per the work schedule) as the number of working days. For example, in case of August the number of working days will be 31.

By default, the system selects the Calendar Days option.

  • If you select the Working Days option, the system considers the working days (as per the work schedule) as the number of working days. For example, in case of August the number of working days may be 23.

If you have selected the Working Days option, and the employee joins ESI in the middle of the month, the system will prorate the number of working days in the month as per the part time ESI record of the emloyee.

For example, you have selected the Working Days option and the employee has joined ESI on the 11th of August. In this case,

    • Number of calendar days in the month = 30
    • Number of working days in the month = 22
    • Number of days in the month for which the employee is not in ESI = 10
    • Number of ESI working days in the month = 22 - (22 * 10/30) = 22 - 7.34 = 15
